SCHOOL EXPANSION
Keith Campbell, Kingfisher Middle School principal, left, and Shane Hood, Kingfisher Heritage School principal, second from right, presented Kingfisher Rotary Club members and guests last week with a slide show outlining the school expansion to be proposed by the school board to the school district for a vote in September or October. Due to continued growth in student numbers, the school board will be proposing the construction of a two-story building to house the seventh and eighth grades on the southeast corner of the Kingfisher High School grounds (currently the APB parking lot which also serves as student parking). New student parking will be moved to a lot proposed to be built directly west of the high school. Campbell would office in the new building with the seventh and eighth graders and Hood would move his office from Heritage school to the current middle school, which would serve fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Then Heritage School would house the second and third grades, with the middle school counselor, Melissa Slezickey, having an office in that building. They emphasized that no new administrative personnel will be employed by the school. Gilmour Elementary School would then house the pre-kindergarten through first grades. Kingfisher Rotarian Greg Garrett, far right, arranged for the presentation. Garrett was joined at the luncheon meeting by his daughter, Gretchen, second from left.
