Seen & Heard
The Times & Free Press received a nice note from Dwayne Ring, formerly of Kingfisher and now of the Tulsa area, along with his subscription renewal for another year.
Ring says he enjoys getting the Kingfisher Times & Free Press and especially likes the editorial page.
Received earlier was a note from Marie Love of Tecumseh, who comments: Just want you to know how much I appreciate your paper. The editorial page is absolutely the best. Thank you for hanging in there.
Former Kingfisher County Sheriff Danny Graham visited Kingfisher Wednesday and had lunch with daughter Angie Graham Matthews.
Reggie Hill of Okarche was a visitor in Kingfisher Wednesday, dropping by the Times & Free Press to renew his subscription while he was in town.
A local employee of an oilfield service company who asked not to be identified reported an interesting conversation with a young couple in another town when he pulled up to a convenience store to get a soft drink.
The couple approached him and pointed at his obvious oilfield vehicle with the company name on the side and one of them conversationally remarked:
“I guess you won’t have a job anymore once Biden eliminates fracking.”
Noting the irony that they were standing at a convenience store and the couple had just finished filling their vehicle with fuel, the employee responded:
“If that happens, how are you planning to fuel your vehicle?”
Not missing a beat, one of them said, “we don’t use gas, we use diesel.”
Also not pausing, the local employee said: “You have cell phones don’t you? Why don’t you just Google how diesel is produced.”
They were happy to do so and the employee watched their jaws drop and their attitudes change with lots of apologies and thank you sirs.
He graciously wished them a nice day.
We wish uneducating the re-educated was always this easy, but it has to start with one frank conversation at a time.
