Sex offender faces stalking charge
An Okarche man who served three and a half years in prison and is currently on probation for aggravated possession of child pornography and other charges pleaded not guilty last week to a new charge of stalking a Kingfisher convenience store worker and her infant daughter.
Steven Len Keith, 53, P.O. Box 33, Okarche, is listed as a registered sex offender on the Oklahoma Department of Corrections website after a 2011 conviction of 10 counts of aggravated possession of child pornography, two counts of procuring or possessing obscene material and two counts of domestic abuse by strangulation.
Under Oklahoma law, “aggravated” possession of child pornography is defined as possession of more than 100 pornographic images involving minors.
He was charged Feb. 14 with stalking in violation of probation or parole after allegedly spending hours of time at Jacket Express convenience store in Kingfisher during the shifts of a particular 18-year-old worker between September and December 2018, allegedly asking her inappropriate personal questions and repeatedly requesting she send him photographs of her infant daughter, according to an affidavit signed by Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Logan.
Sheriff’s officers served a search warrant at Keith’s rural Okarche residence Dec. 4 and seized, along with other items, a number of computer hard drives, external drives and USB drives, which have been sent off for analysis.
If Keith is convicted of the new charge, he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $2,500, as well as revocation of the remainder of his probation by DOC.
He is due to return to court at 1:30 p.m. April 4.
