Smith among top OSU undergraduate students
One hundred thirty-five Oklahoma State University undergraduate students were recognized for earning the Honors College Degree during a special hooding ceremony prior to spring commencement.
Among those receiving the honor was Erin Smith of Cashion, who earned a degree in political science.
Another 67 students were honored for receiving or being a candidate for a General Honors Award or a Departmental or College Honors Award during the previous academic year.
“We are very proud of this year’s graduating class Honors College students,” said Honors College Dean Dr. Keith Garbutt.
“They have achieved the honors degree in a wide range of majors, from engineering to music industry and animal science to English. This year’s class was the largest class ever to graduate from Oklahoma State University’s Honors College in its 50 years of granting degrees. This is a far cry from the first class that graduated 50 years ago with just three students receiving the honors degree.”
The Honors College Degree is the highest academic distinction awarded to those receiving an OSU undergraduate degree and students donned the Honors College hood during the spring 2019 commencement ceremony.
Students who receive this award have completed all the Honors College degree requirements with a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
