Speranzo, Reid exchange wedding vows during June weekend ceremony in Virginia
Julia Margaret Speranzo of Springfield, Va., and Benton Forrest Reid of Kingfisher exchanged wedding vows in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Boxwood Villa in Orange, Va.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Marion Speranzo of Springfield and the granddaughter of Evan and Bonnie Evans of Corona, Calif.
The bridegroom is the son of Barry and Mary Reid and the grandson of Gary and Christine Reid, all of Kingfisher, and the late Sonya Reagan.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floorlength, sleeveless gown of white chiffon. The gown featured a fitted, ruched bodice with a V-neckline and band of beadwork and sequins highlighting the empire waist, a deep back framed in lace and beading, and an A-line skirt ending in a cathedral-length train.
She carried a bouquet of white and blush roses, interspersed with greenery and stems of smaller blue accent flowers and wore a cathedral-length veil of white tulle.
The wedding was officiated by Justin Woods, the director of Baptist Collegiate Ministries, the faith group where the couple met while both were attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Due to local pandemic restrictions, the abbreviated guest list at the outdoor ceremony and reception and dinner that followed included the couple’s parents and brothers, Conner Reid of Edgewater, Md., and Ross Reid of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Joey Speranzo of Springfield, Va.
Other friends and family from across the country joined in via a live video feed.
The wedding dinner was held inside Boxwood Villa, followed by open air dancing on the front veranda and toasts to the couple on the lawn.
The bride is a 2016 graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Va. and 2020 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in Russian.
The bridegroom is a 2014 graduate of Kingfisher High School and a 2019 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in quantitative economics.
Their wedding trip consisted of a cross-country move to their new residence in San Marcos, Calif., where the bride serves as a Navy ensign assigned to the USS John P. Murtha, a marine amphibious assault ship at San Diego Naval Base, and the bridegroom serves as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, assigned to Camp Pendleton.
