State’s transportation commission awards project bids Monday

By

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded project bids Monday during its regular October meeting.

Two of those projects will take place in House District 59, which is represented by House Majority Leader Mike Sanders.

One of them is in Kingfisher County.

That project is to install centerline rumble strips and pavement markings along State Highway 3.

This project extends into other counties as well with a total bid of more than $2 million awarded to the sole bidder, Action Safety Supply Co. LLC out of Oklahoma City.

This project came in over the engineer’s estimate of almost $1.8 million.

The total project is scheduled to take 40 days.

The other project is the bridge and approaches on County Road NS-215 over Kizer Creek, 4.3 miles south of State Highway 51 near Camargo in Dewey County.

The length of the project is 0.123 miles.

The low bid of $578,688.78 was awarded to Haskell Lemon Construction Co. of Oklahoma City, coming in lower than the engineer’s estimate of $665,737.65 and beating seven other bids ranging from $615,772 to $905,373.95.

Work is expected to take 120 calendar days.

Bids on these projects were opened Sept. 17.

“Improving the safety of our roadways is of utmost importance for our rural citizens,” Sanders said. “I’m excited to see these bids awarded and anticipate work getting underway on these projects.”
