State fair entries readied
Kingfisher County entries in the Oklahoma City State Fair are being readied.
The Oklahoma City fair, beginning Sept. 12 and ending Sept. 22, provides a showcase for livestock, crops, arts and crafts as well as 4-H and FFA program events.
Kingfisher County OSU Extension Agricultural Educator Bryan Kennedy said local extension personnel were getting 4-H entries from across the county ready to take to the fair last week.
All 4-H entries have to be there Sept. 11 (Wednesday).
“Kingfisher County will be well represented,”Kennedy said.
Oklahoma is unique in that it has two major fall events for exhibitors –The Oklahoma City State Fair and then the Tulsa State Fair from Sept. 26 to Oct. 6.
The Tulsa State Fair provides the additional allure of a premium auction for 4-H and FFA livestock exhibits fed and fitted for fall market-ready type animals.
Kennedy said both fall shows provide an opportunity for livestock breeders to showcase their animals in the open shows before large audiences.
He said Kingfisher County exhibitors will have numerous quality animals entered in the state shows.
