State Lions officer addresses local club

Marie Burns, left, executive director and state secretary for Oklahoma Lions Club, was the featured speaker of the Kingfisher Lions Club at a recent meeting. Pictured with club Vice President Colton DeMuth, Burns told local Lions and guests about the Oklahoma Lions Eye Bank, which is dedicated to eye tissue recovery from donors and corneal tissue transplants. Burns also told of expanded activities regarding Kid-Sight, which is an eyesight screening program being done across the state for children aged six months to 6 years. She said Oklahoma Lions are also active participants in screening for diabetic retinopathy detection to help save sight among our state’s diabetic population. Last, she also told of progress the Oklahoma Lions are making with the expansion of Lions Meadows of Hope, a 160-acre foster care ranch located near Perkins in Payne County. [KT&FP Staff Photo]
