STEMming the Tide: More than 700 attend Kingfisher STEM night
More than 700 people attended Community STEM Night hosted by the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, March 26.
The OERB partners with the oil and natural gas industry, state museums, universities and other educational entities to engage kids in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
This year’s event featured technology like robotics, drones and even a large interactive video game from Science Museum Oklahoma.
The goal is to spark students’ interest and inspire the next generation of Oklahoma’s workforce, including oil and natural gas professionals.
For the Kingfisher Community STEM Night, the OERB also partnered with the Energize for Safety Coalition to include a safe driving section which included the Oklahoma Trucking Association’s Share the Road rig, oilfield trucks, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and multiple law enforcement agencies. The Energize for Safety Coalition and the OERB work together to educate the public about how to drive safely around large trucks through DriveSafeOK.com.
The event was sponsored by XTO Energy. Halliburton, Select Energy Services, BK Equipment and Kingfisher-based Terrastar Inc. provided free hamburgers and hotdogs for the attendees.
The OERB works with Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas industry to improve the lives of all Oklahomans through education and restoration.
