Stuart man injured in accident on Calumet Blacktop

By

A Stuart man is reported in stable condition in an Oklahoma City hospital after a crash early Wednesday morning in Kingfisher County.

Billy Jack Taylor, Jr., 33, was taken by medical helicopter to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with head and leg injuries after the crash on Calumet Blacktop at around 3:30 a.m.

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Taylor was driving north on the blacktop in a 2007 Lincoln MKZ while a 2019 Mack semi-truck driven by Michael Evan Nicholson, 52, Vici, was headed south.

The report said Taylor’s vehicle went left of center causing Nicholson to slow his semi-truck.

Eventually, Nicholson swerved to the left and Taylor swerved to the right, causing a collision and both vehicles ultimately departed the roadway to the east before coming to a rest.

The report, filed by Trooper Seth Wallace of the Kingfisher County Detachment of Troop J, said Taylor was pinned inside his car for about 50 minutes before being freed by members of the Okarche Fire Department using a hydraulic rescue tool.

The report said Nicholson was not injured and that seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.

The cause of the collision and Taylor’s condition prior to the accident are still under investigation, according to the report.
