Surprise Club members cover busy April agenda
Surprise Homemakers Extension Group met at Loretta Kretchmar’s home for its April meeting.
The group had two guests, Ashley and Kurtis Kretchmar.
Irene George led the group in the flag salute and Homemakers Creed. Members answered roll call with “What Kind of Shoe Are You?”
Pansy Wheeler gave the devotional of “Be Still and Know I Am God” and Kretchmar gave her treasurer’s report.
Wheeler gave a report on Spring County Council and showed the certificates the club won: Secretary’s Book, first place; Scrapbook, second place; and Standards of Excellence, first place and a monetary prize.
The speaker encouraged the group to try water exercises.
The Oklahoma Extension Week will be May 6-10 and a painting workshop is planned at the county fairgrounds.
Surprise members will attend that workshop for the May meeting.
The group has been asked to provide paper goods - plates, cups, napkins and utensils - for the event. Kretchmar volunteered to get these items for the group.
The Barn Quilt workshop is scheduled April 27. The Kingfisher County Fair will be Aug. 21-24.
Kretchmar presented the lesson on “What Kind of Shoe Are You?” and members took the test to discover their personal temperaments: Clown shoe, all-business shoe, combat boot or house shoe.
Members were combinations, but each had one area that stood out the most.
Wheeler gave the lesson about “Text to Me Emoji” and showed the most common ones in social media on the internet.
They started in Japan. It also showed the shorthand abbreviations commonly used.
Kretchmar served angel food cake and fresh strawberries plus a cheese and meat tray.
