Surprise Club members hold February meeting

“Planning Your Funeral” was the lesson presented to the Surprise Extension Homemakers when members met Feb. 13 in the home of Pansy Wheeler.

“We discussed the myriad of questions required to be answered either now by ourselves or at the time of death by the family,” said Wheeler, club reporter.

The points were made about sparing the family by pre-planning the information.

It will relieve the family of decisions made in an emotional state and help reduce the financial burden if provisions are made ahead of time, according to the lesson.

Each member received sheets to be filled in with decisions about the type of service they desired, people who needed to be notified and even favorite music. Irene George, club pres

Irene George, club president, led the group in the flag salute and Homemaker’s Creed.

Wheeler gave the devotion of “God Uses Our Mistakes.”

Linda Caldwell called roll and read the minutes followed by the treasurer’s report by Loretta Kretchmar.

The group brought some items to take to the Hennessey Care Center to be used for bingo prizes. They will do this again in September.

The County Council date is still unknown, but the district meeting will be in Fairview on March 25. Two members are planning to attend.

The March meeting will be held at Caldwell’s home and George will present the lesson.

Wheeler served a Valentine’s red velvet cake with cherries and whipped topping plus sugared pecans and other goodies.
