Surprise members prep for fair
Preparations for the Kingfisher County Free Fair was the central activity of the Surprise Extension Homemakers at their meeting, held Aug. 13 at the home of Loretta Kretchmar.
Between the five members, over 60 entries were tagged and readied for entry.
They ranged from paintings, sewing, crafts, and canning to flower arrangements.
President Irene George led the group in the flag salute and the Homemaker’s Creed.
Pansy Wheeler led the devotion, “Still Useful to God.”
Linda Caldwell, secretary, read the minutes and Kretchmar gave the treasurer’s report.
It was reported that all five members attended the painting class during National Homemaker’s Week. The group sent a cash donation to help the Kingfisher County 4-H with its achievement banquet and awards program.
A lesson on “Things to do with your Grandkids to Build Family Unity and Memories” was given and each shared the things they remembered doing with their grandparents.
Kretchmar served refreshments to the group, which included her grandson, Caleb.
The club will meet next month at the home of Pansy Wheeler and she will give the lesson.
