Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the InterBank Community Room.

Delta Kappa Gamma is a society for key women educators and was founded May 11, 1929, by 12 women educators in Austin, Texas.

Theta Chapter hosted a reception for the essay winners, parents, guests and members to hear the students read their winning essays.

Those reading essays were the seventh grade winners Caden Schieber, Anna Shirey and Rylie Bomhoff, all from Okarche; eighth grade winners Jaycee Taylor and Haylee Pritchett of Watonga, and Sage Griswold of Okarche, who was unable to attend.

Essay chairman, Charlene Heronmena, read Griswold’s essay. Theta Chapter has had seven state winners since its inception 23 years ago.
