Theta Tau elects new officers at March meeting

By

Theta Tau, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, meeting was held 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall. The meeting was preceded by baking of cinnamon rolls on Tuesday and Wednesday with over 100 dozen cinnamon rolls made by the members.

President Cynthia Eaton conducted the business meeting. Each month a jar has been passed around with all funds going to the Disaster Fund, which is used to help members when they experience a devastating loss, such as fires and floods to home, medical expenses, etc. As of the meeting, $102 had been collected.

With the group’s fundraising activities, including breads, Aunt Bill’s candy and cinnamon rolls, the chapter will be making donations to just some of its philanthropic projects: Oklahoma School for the Blind, Oklahoma School for the Deaf, Camp Goddard, Girls State, ESA, St. Jude and other local and state projects.

The 2019-2020 Theta Tau officers are: Dana Terrell, president; LaVenia Boutwell, vice president; Terri Stake, secretary; Cathy Holsted, treasurer; Karen Castonguay, educational director, and, Eaton, parliamentarian.

Two educationals were given on the club’s yearly theme: “What is Your Birth Flower Month?”

March birthdays were Karen Castonguay (March 1), Debi Trout (March 5) and Cathy Holsted (March 23).

The March birthday flower is the Daffodil. The members learned that March-born people are very sympathetic to others and love to take care of them and to create a feeling of peacefulness. They always return kindness, and are honest, independent and trustworthy.

Terri Stake, having a July 29 birthday, told the group that July has dual birth flowers: Larkspur and Water Lily. July-born people are great at making friends, constantly seeking out new relationships, friendly, honest and caring about other people’s feelings, she said.

The hostess and co-hostess were the duo of mother Cathy Holsted and daughter Stormy Simmons with Stormy making her annual Italian cream cake in celebration of her mother’s birthday.

Those dining on refreshments were: Donna McPherson, Debi Trout, Eaton, Terri Peck, Karen Edgar, Simmons, Misty Blundell, Cathy and Doc Holsted, Ramona Paine, Terri Stake, Karen Castonguay and the newest member, Dana Golbek.

The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
