Theta Tau holds first meeting of new year

By

Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International met Monday, Sept. 21, in the Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church in Kingfisher to begin its new year.

Terri Peck, president, called the business meeting to order at 7 p.m.

The members repeated the opening ritual. Peck gave the devotional.

The members received their chapter shirts with Peck’s theme “On the Road Again with Theta Tau.”

Cathy Holsted handed out the new yearbook pages as well as order forms for Aunt Bill’s candy, cinnamon rolls and Amish bread.

The members will begin making Aunt Bill’s in October and the baking will begin the last of November and the first of December.

The plans at the present time will be to have a booth at Winterfest on Dec. 5.

Once again Theta Tau will sponsor students at the Oklahoma School for the Blind (four students) and Oklahoma School for the Deaf.

The administration is working on a different plan this year where individual chapters won’t sponsor students, but all monies given will be put in an account to be used for all students.

“Our Hope for Heroes” project will have a jar available at each meeting for 12 different projects to contribute to and each month Holsted will select one of the projects.

There is also a list of items that the members can bring to chapter meetings

This project will not only support the troops, but also COVID-19 medical personnel needs.

The chapter has supported numerous projects with donations, gifts, auction items, St. Jude’s, putting an ad in the convention program and attended Zoom meetings in June and September.

Paige Kraus, educational director, presented the educational with handouts on different stops of places to eat and points of interest around Oklahoma on Route 66.

Stormy Simmons and Peck served refreshments to Deb Trout, Cynthia Eaton, Lavenia Boutwell, Madelle Henderson, Kraus, Donna McPherson, Ramona Paine, Dana Terrell, Terri Stake, Karen Edgar, Holsted and Misty Blundell.

The next meeting will be Oct. 19.
