Theta Tau installs new officers during May meeting
Theta Tau, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, meeting was held 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in the home of Cynthia Eaton.
The Social Committee members, Misty Blundell, Stormy Simmons, chair, Debi Trout, Terri Stake and Terri Peck were the hostesses and they served sandwiches, chips and veggies with dip and other food selections.
Cathy and Doc Holsted attended the Oklahoma State Council of ESA state convention April 26-28 at the Hyatt Regency in Tulsa.
Ramona Paine and Dana Terrell joined the group on Saturday afternoon for the banquet that evening and the second general session Sunday.
Theta Tau received numerous awards at the awards luncheon Saturday afternoon: Disaster Fund, 16 members or more, second place with $33.42 per member for a total of $635.00; Easter Seals, third place; Educational Award-Gold Seal Entry, second place (Ramona Paine, educational director); Educational Gold Link (six educationals sent in); ESA Foundation State Contest (monetary donations and donations not sent directly to the Foundation), first place; Membership – most new members, third place (a four-way tie), five new members; Outstanding Chapter, 16 members or more, third place; Philanthropic Monies, second place, $1,113 per member; Philanthropic Hours, first place, 294 hours per member; State Project Monies Reported Timely, first place, $379 per member; State Project Donations, first place, $45.45 per member, and third place in St. Jude Non-ALSAC events, $2,500.
The group also was recognized by the Disaster Fund state chairman for participating in the jar contest that benefited the fund.
The Theta Tau chapter turned in the most money.
Theta Tau was recognized at the banquet for the St. Jude celebration supporting this organization for its members working the Dream Home in Edmond, Radio-a-thon and other activities with a monetary amount of $61,935.55 credited to the chapter.
Years of service recognition was presented to Anita Long for 35 years and Eaton for 40 years.
Cathy Holsted, installing officer, installed the following: Dana Terrell, president; LaVenia Bout-well, vice president; Peck, secretary, Holsted, treasurer; Karen Castonguay, educational director and Eaton, parliamentarian.
Terrell’s theme is “ESA-Making Memories and Friends.”
As Holsted installed each member she recalled memories from her 45 years of being an ESA member.
Holsted is also a charter member of Theta Tau.
The members then selected their chapter shirts.
Punch and cake were served.
Theta Tau said farewell to Ramona Paine, a member for 33 years, who is transferring her membership to Alpha Epsilon in Enid where she resides.
Members then took part in fellowship time and the revealing of secret sisters.
Those taking part in the social were: Madell Henderson, Castonguay, Paine, Karen Edgar, Cathy and Doc Holsted, Stormy and Olivia Simmons, Dana Golbek, Peck, Stake, Boutwell, Terrell, Trout, Blundell and Eaton.
The meetings will resume in September on the third Monday at BancFirst at 7 p.m.
