Thunderstorms bring needed rain

Much of Oklahoma received additional rain in thunderstorms Sunday evening.

Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded 1.15 inches at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher.

Unofficial readings at the Twila Adams residence east of Kingfisher and a residence near Shafenberg Road both showed around one inch.

Mesonet readings from the Mueggenborg farm west of Kingfisher showed .93 inch.

Watonga in Blaine County recorded 1.42 inches, one of the heavier amounts in the state.

Other county reports included:

Cashion - .7 inch at Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator.

Dover - 1.6 inches at the Clinton Bailey residence north of Dover.

Hennessey - 1.22 inches at the Harold Ebers residence.

Okarche - about one inch at Okarche Grain and Feed; 1.1 inches at the Petty Farms, northwest of Okarche and .9 inch at the Petty ranch west of Omega.

Other Mesonet readings included: Guthrie .46 inch, El Reno, .87 inch, Minco, .44 inch, Marshall, 1.0 inch; Seiling .71 inch; Cheyenne, .68 inch; Fairview, .78 inch; Cherokee, .86 inch; Woodward, .82 inch, and Blackwell, 1.08 inch.

Locally, water was seen standing in wheat fields and many ponds were brim full and running over.
