Too much to pack in just 1 day; fun starts Tuesday
July 2: DUCK RACE
6 p.m. Vernie Snow Aquatic Center
Four lucky duck sponsors will take home prize money at the end of this fast, madcap race: First-third place ducks earn $1,000, $500 and $300 respectively and the last over the finish line earns $100. Sponsors pay $50 per duck and all funds raised benefit the Kingfisher Educational Foundation.
July 3: LITTLE MISS & MR. FIRECRACKER
6:30 p.m. Heritage Auditorium
Sponsored by Kingfisher County Distinguished Young Women and open to ages 2-5. Winners ride in parade.
July 4: FUN EXPLODES
• 9-11:30 a.m., Shopping
Downtown merchants will be open for hometown bargains before and after the parade. A truck vendor will serve up hot and cold coffee drinks to get the party started.
• 10 a.m., Downtown Parade
Wheeler Brothers Grain Co. will be recognized as grand marshal patriotic floats, vehicles, bike riders, walkers, music and more. Vehicles parked along Main Street during the parade can’t be moved until the end.
• 4 p.m. to dark, Hit the Park
In addition to food vendors, fire truck rides and train rides available throughout, special events include: Face Painting – 4-7 p.m. Games – 4 p.m. at Homier Field, including egg and water balloon toss, sack races and turtle races. Karaoke – 4-6 p.m. with Greg Tasso in the West Pavilion. Money Dig – 5:30 p.m., ages 2-10. Glow in the Dark Ring Toss – 7:30-8:30 p.m. Concert with Emily Faith – 7:30 p.m. in Homier Field (story at right). Dusk – Bigger and better than ever fireworks display choreographed to patriotic music.
