Hennessey’s 2019-20 municipal budget for the new fiscal year that starts July 1 is $8.315 million compared with the current budget of $7.518 million.

The new budget was approved by the Hennessey Board of Trustees and Utilities Authority at its June 10 regularly monthly meeting.

The town expects $4.384 million in revenue and $3.931 million in expenses for the new fiscal year, according to the town’s written report. That compares with the actual income of $3.580 million for the past 11 months and $2.923 million in expenses.

The town’s total resources as of June 10 totaled $8,504,720, the town’s budget resolution shows.

Vice Mayor Clif Vogt chaired this month’s meeting in the absence of the mayor, Bert Gritz. All other trustees were present: Wes Hardin, Keith Meek and Richard Simunek.

In other business, the board also accepted a quote from Rush Pump of Noble to make $7,390.70 in repairs to the high service pump at the water plant.

After about 20 minutes in an executive session, the board promoted police sergeant Mike Jones to lieutenant at $18 an hour, and appointed Mahala Jones as a reserve police officer. She is the daughter of Mike Jones.

For the fourth time, the board continued to take no action on a possible ground water settlement with the Merritt family.

Members routinely approved a resolution calling for a 3 percent hike in water and sewer rates that had been decided last month. A $45.75 minimum monthly bill will go up $1.45 and be reflected on the July statement.

Meek was appointed deputy treasurer to replace Vogt.
