THIS TOWN IS ON FIRE!
THIS TOWN IS ON FIRE! — Fortunately not literally, thanks to diligence and careful planning on the part of city emergency responders. A small grass fi re on a residential lawn on North Main Street is suspected to have ignited from a wayward spark from Saturday night’s downtown firework extravaganza, but Kingfisher Fire Department was on alert and arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames before they spread. City Manager Dave Slezickey said Monday night that emergency workers were able to respond to calls city-wide and help control crowds during the parade and fireworks, due to a preplanned division of labor and resources which ensured that the entire city had police and fire coverage. Fireworks erupted from downtown rooftops as well as other ignition sites to create dramatic displays like this one lifted from a drone video produced by the pyrotechnic company responsible for the fireworks. The entire video, complete with the Christmas music played during the fireworks, is shared on the Times & Free Press Facebook Page and elsewhere online [Photo via Facebook]
