Traffic accidents
The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:
October 9, 6:39 p.m.
- At 1306 S. Main St. Marla Smith, 40, Hennessey, driving a 2018 Dodge Ram, was parked at B & B Liquor, 1306 S. Main St. Burford Owens, 68, Kingfisher, driving a 1998 Mazda, was backing out of a parking place at B & B Liquor and struck the Smith vehicle.
According to the report, the Owens vehicle left the scene of the accident, but children in the Smith vehicle witnessed the incident and provided officers with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and its direction of travel upon exiting the parking lot.
Officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the 200 block of East Toronto Avenue and made contact with the driver, the report said.
The Owens vehicle had a broken tail light, matching in color to remnants found at the scene, according to the report.
No damage was reported to the Smith vehicle and minor damage to the Owens vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
Officers Justin Connor and Jason East investigated the accident.
October 9, 1:46 p.m. -
At S.H. 33 and Third Street. Fernando Garay, 31, Holcomb, Kan., driving a 2006 Peterbilt, was westbound on S.H. 33 near the railroad underpass.
The Garay vehicle was carrying an oversize load with a John Deere combine on the trailer, which struck the underpass, damaging both the combine and underpass.
Officer Justin Conner investigated the accident.
