Truck driver killed, another injured Monday in three-semi collision west of Watonga
One truck driver was killed and another injured Monday in an accident involving three semi tractor-trailers 12 miles west of Watonga.
Sean Bush, 29, of Neosho, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:30 p.m. collision on U.S. 270, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Robert Palacio, 62, of Garden City, Kan., was transported by Air Evac helicopter to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. No information was available as to his condition or the nature of his injuries.
The third truck driver, Gerald Ostrowiecki, 58, of Cheyenne, Wyo., was not reported to be injured.
Ostrowiecki was driving a 2017 Peterbilt semi transporting hazardous materials southbound on U.S. 270.
His truck was stopped at a railroad crossing when it was struck from behind by a southbound 2013 Peterbilt driven by Bush, also traveling south on U.S. 270, according to the OHP report.
Ostrowiecki’s truck then crossed into the northbound lanes where it collided head-on with a 2007 Kenworth semi driven by Palacio, according to the report.
The condition of all three drivers prior to the accident as well as the cause of the event is still under investigation by OHP Trooper Lane Gossen of the Kingfisher County Troop J detachment.
He was assisted at the scene by troopers John Jones, Donald Kraft, Adam Post, Kyle Rosine, Micah Whittington and Trent Cagle; Watonga Fire, EMS and Police Department, Dewey County Sheriff’s Office, Blaine County Sheriff’s Office and Air Evac.
