Tuesday’s rude awakening: Much of county loses power

By

A number of Kingfisher County residents on Tuesday morning woke up to - or were awoken by - no electricity.

According to Kingfisher City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis and Kingfisher City Manager Dave Slezickey, OG&E lost its transmission line between El Reno and Dover.

Dover. That knocked out power out to Okarche, Kingfisher, Dover and Hennessey inside the county.

Loftis said the outage spread from El Reno to parts of Enid.

Power was lost sometime after 6 a.m.

Slezickey said Kingfisher Electric Director Mark Gambill was preparing to generate Kingfisher’s power plant before Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority, the city’s wholesale power provider, advised to standby for re-energizing of the feed around 8 a.m.
