Tulsa Ringmasters award KHS’s Taylor scholarship

By

The Tulsa State Fair Ringmasters have awarded a $1500 scholarship to Bree Taylor.

A senior at Kingfisher High School, Taylor is the daughter of Bill and Brooke Taylor.

“Bree has exhibited great character, work ethic and community involvement; these attributes are the qualities necessary to achieve success and further her educational career,” stated a release announcing Taylor’s scholarship.

“It is with great honor Bree received the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Scholarship, and should be recognized for her agriculture involvement and achievements.”

Applications are thoroughly evaluated by the Tulsa Community Foundation’s Tulsa Ringmasters Scholarship Selection Committee.

The criteria for selecting the recipients includes: their involvement in extra-curricular activities associated with high school and community participation, economic need, participation in the Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Shows and a short essay outlining their long-term educational goals.

Of the nearly 100 applications, 32 scholarships totaling $50,000 were awarded based on the established criteria. ›The Tulsa State Fair Ringmasters are composed of a volunteer group from Tulsa and the surrounding areas.

The Ringmasters dedicate their time and effort each year to raise funds to support Oklahoma’s 4-H and FFA youth through the Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Auction, and to help raise funds for the continued growth of the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Scholarship Fund.

Taylor is an active member of the National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, FFA, student council, Business Professionals of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the American Institute of Parliamentarians.

She was recently chosen as an Oklahoma Academic All-State recipient and she has received a Kingfisher Meritorious Achievement Medal.

In 2017, she was named the National FFA Outstanding Secretary. In 2018, Taylor was a member of the National FFA champion livestock evaluation team as well as the National Barrow Show champion livestock evaluation team.

She exhibited the grand champion market goat at the Oklahoma Youth Expo in both 2017 and 2018.
