UMW hold regular monthly meeting

By

The February meeting of the Kingfisher United Methodist Women was called to order by President Barbara Fisher.

Eight members braved the inclement weather to join in opening the meeting with the reciting of “Our Purpose.”

Noni Butcher gave the devotional on Matthew 23:11; lifting up the caregivers all over the world for acting as servants to those in need.

Dorothy Whitaker read from the Prayer Calendar about Christian Social Action, providing sacred spaces where peace, love and justice can be found.

The normal February program on “Call to Prayer and Self Denial” was combined with a lesson on women investing in Shalom.

Due to low attendance, it was decided to postpone the special offering and remind members during the March meeting to find something they would be willing to go without for their self denial and bring the offering to the April meeting.

In new business, it was decided to make a donation to the March 23 Day of Giving, which goes to the Legacy Fund to support the work of future generations of United Methodist Women.

Plans were also made for the March 13 Lenten service meal.

Fisher then requested help going over the Mission Today Report. Those present went over goals for the 2019 District Challenge deciding which items could be accomplished.

Following this, the meeting adjourned and refreshments were provided.

The next meeting will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, with the spring potluck luncheon to follow.
