The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program recognized the Upper Room volunteers for their commitment to community non-profit organizations.

The Upper Room, located at Second Street and Robberts Avenue in Kingfisher, has partnered with Opportunities, Inc. of Watonga for many years.

“The Upper Room remains committed to helping in Kingfisher County,” said Jan Franks RSVP program director.

Last year it donated to Wheatbelt Ambucs, Wheatheart Nutrition Center, fire and police departments, Memory Lane, Chisholm Trail Museum, Senior Citizen’s Center, Kingfisher Winter Nights, Meals on Wheels and Christmas vouchers for food for those in need.

“We asked Betty Jane Teders to come out of retirement for a day,” Franks said. “She shines when she expresses her love for the Upper Room.

Teders had 35 years partnering with RSVP.

Glenn Beebe has 25 years and over 10,000 hours.

“All the volunteers have given many hours making sure it remains a great place to find a bargain,” Franks said.
