Volunteer workday Sunday at local fire-damaged home
Another volunteer workday is scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18, to finish demolition work at the home of Danny and Ann Pflueger, 301 N. First St., Kingfisher.
“We will be removing the subfloor in a couple rooms, the ceiling in the living room and the lath that remains in a few areas,” Kingfisher Heritage School Principal Shane Hood said. “We will need a wheel barrow, shovels, battery operated skill saw, battery operated reciprocating saw and a couple tarps to put the material on.”
The Pflueger home sustained significant fire damage in the early morning hours of Feb. 21. Hood is one of the organizers of a community-wide effort to help the couple restore the home.
Danny Pflueger is a long-time custodian at Kingfisher Public Schools.
“The goal (Sunday) is to finish this up and they can come level the house next week, then we can get electrical and structural in the following week,” Hood said, adding that he hopes new sheetrock may be up and plastering completed in the first week or two of May.
