Voting begins in school race

Early voting began Thursday and Friday in the threeway race for Kingfisher Board of Education Office No. 5.

Kingfisher Public School patrons who missed the opportunity to vote early at the Kingfisher County Election Board can cast their ballots at their regular precincts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Incumbent Carly Franks faces two challengers for her seat, Susannah Copeland and Servrina Prim.

If none of the three candidates garners a majority of the votes cast (50% plus one vote), the top two vote-getters will face off in the school general election April 7.

The county’s only other school board race also will be decided at the April 7 election.

As the only two candidates who filed for Okarche Office 5, incumbent Stephanie J. Jeffrey will face challenger Rob Anderson on the April 7 ballot.

Candidates elected without opposition to other area school board seats include:

Lomega: Matthew Oppel.

Hennessey: Patrick S. Griffin.

Dover: Larry Harviston Jr.

Chisholm Trail Technology Center: Mark Pringnitz.
