Former Cashion residents Glenn “Roy” Weigl and Joy “June” Chadduck Weigl celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Wednesday, June 1.

The couple graduated from Cashion High School in 1952, where they both played basketball. June Chad duck also was crowned FFA queen and Roy Weigl played both school and American Legion baseball and sang in the school chorus.

They married on June 1, 1952, and lived in Cashion until 1965, when they made a “temporary” move to Norman that lasted five decades.

The couple remained in Norman for 50 years until last fall when they moved to Noble to live with their youngest daughter.

Both now retired, Weigl worked for ONG and his wife worked for TG&Y.

They celebrated their anniversary on Saturday, June 4, with their family, which includes their children and spouses Diane and Randall Stansberry of Norman and Glenn Jr. and Pat Weigl and Denise and Don Anderson, all of Noble; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren (with number 13 on the way).
