Active Covid-19 cases dropped by 29 in Kingfisher County over the past week.

Kingfisher City-County Emergency Manager Steve Loftis reported fewer cases in every community in the county except Omega, which had no cases prior to last week.

Kingfisher had the biggest drop, from 33 to 22, as the county’s number of cases fell from 73 to 44 active cases. Counts for other communities included: Hennessey 11 (down four), Cashion three (down six), Okarche five (down five), Loyal one (down two) and Dover two (down one).

Loftis reported that the county has had 2,159 Covid cases since the pandemic began with 2,015 recovered. The county death toll remained at 39.

Commissioners rescinded the county emergency resolution later in the meeting, opening the county up for business as usual.

The state rescinded its emergency order last week, Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said.

Commissioners approved renewing the contract with Oklahoma State University to provide extension services to the county, monthly reports from the offices of sheriff, treasurer, county clerk, election board, assessor, court clerk and health department and reimbursement claim forms to the state for the district attorney, and election board offices for travel and telephone service for the past month.

A plan submitted by Circuit Engineering District 8 for a bridge rehabilitation project in District 3 near the intersection of NS 2740 and EW 890 roads received approval as well as a notice to bidders to perform the bridge work.

Tetra Technologies received approval for a temporary 12- inch water line two miles east of Omega in District 3.

WHC Energy Services received approval for four access drive installations in District 3 at locations on file with the county clerk’s office.

District 1 County Commissioner Jeff Moss and District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek joined Dobrovolny in making all actions unanimous.

Also attending the meeting were County Engineer Nik Smith, County Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray, County budget maker John Storm, C.P.A., and Sheriff Dennis Banther.

County Clerk Jeannie Boevers served as official minute clerk.
