Welcome, much needed rain starts falling Friday
A thunderstorm brought welcome showers to Kingfisher Friday morning.
The system bringing the moisture spread from the north across the county, depositing .9 inch of rain by Noon.
The timely thunderstorm brought relief from sweltering, dry weather that although welcome during the harvest, which is now all but complete, had begun to take a toll on summer crops, pastures, lawns and gardens.
Kingfisher had experienced a steady menu of 96 degree highs for three days before Friday’s showers arrived.
Up until Friday, Kingfisher had received only .03 inch of moisture for the month of June.
The 10-day forecast for this area calls for a chance of likely thunderstorms Saturday and again Tuesday and Thursday and possible thundershowers other days.
