Arthur Lee “Sonny” Johnson, Jr., 86, of Crescent died Feb. 27, 2019, in Guthrie.

He was born Aug. 25, 1932 in Concho to Arthur Lee and Ida Mae (Curley) Johnson.

Arthur graduated from Crescent High School and worked at Cimarron Seed Company.  He married Gaye Richards on Jan. 17, 1952 in Fort Smith, Ark.  He retired from Conoco, Inc. in 1994, the same year Gaye retired.

 He was involved in FFA, The Quarterback Club, and coached Little League baseball for many years.

Survivors include, three sons, David Johnson and wife Sherry of Guthrie, Jay Johnson and wife Tamara of Crescent, and Jeff Johnson, also of Crescent;  two brothers, Butch Johnson and Buddy Johnson both of Crescent;  one sister, Jackie Ann McBroom of Tecumseh;  eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gaye, sister, Dollie Cummings, and brother, Jimmey Johnson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.. Monday, March 4, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Montgomery officiating.  Burial followed in the Crescent Cemetery.
