Bernice Krittenbrink, 85, passed away on Feb. 23, 2026, in her hometown of Kingfisher.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1940, in Kingfisher to Ewald and Mary Kuntz.

Bernice attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School and later graduated from Kingfisher High School.

During her teenage years, she worked as a soda jerk at Enix Drug Store. She enjoyed the social atmosphere and often spoke fondly about her time working there.

Bernice then continued her education at Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kan., before returning home to Kingfisher.

She married the love of her life, Leroy Krittenbrink, on Oct. 22, 1959. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with four children, three daughters and one son.

While raising her children, Bernice faithfully served her community through many years of work with the Canadian County Election Board.

She also gave generously of her time as a Meals on Wheels volunteer and as a Pink Lady at Kingfisher Regional Hospital.

Her faith was the foun-dation of her life and she was an active member of the Altar Society at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she cooked meals, made quilts and supported members of the church.

Bernice cherished life’s simple joys. She loved playing cards with her friends, reading books from Kingfisher library, gardening in her yard and traveling locally and abroad with her family.

Her warmth, generosity and tenacity left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Krittenbrink; her son, Doug Krittenbrink; her parents, Ewald and Mary Kuntz; her sister, Mary Pendorf; and her brother, Stanley Kuntz.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Swyden (Randy), Connie Gubler (Tory) and Vicki Mowdy (Randy); her grandchildren, Taylor Gubler, Eric Mowdy (Chelsea), Ashley Hollowell (Joseph), Trevor Mowdy, Whitney Swyden, Paige Hatcher (Tyler) and Mackenzie Swyden; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter Duggan, Ethan Duggan, Lincoln Mowdy, Maverick Hollowell, Parker Hatcher and Hayes Hatcher.

A rosary service was held Thursday, Feb. 26. A Funeral Mass was Friday, Feb. 27, both at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sts. Peter & Paul Altar Society in Bernice’s memory.
