Read moreThe God who created the heavens and the earth and all that is in it looked it all over and blessed it. The seas and all in them, the land and all plants and animals, were blessed by God. They were in harmony and contentment living as God had created them. God placed man in the midst of this garden of Eden, a paradise where all their needs were supplied by El Shaddai, the All Sufficient One. God had given them authority to rule over His creation and care for it. And God had given Adam and Eve the authority to choose, for with his command to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, was also the ability to obey or not to obey. And so enters the serpent, an animal used by Satan to tempt Eve. Satan had himself been in Heaven, God’s dwelling place, and chose to take over Heaven and be like God. But he wasn’t God, and he was cast out of Heaven. And ever since he has been seeking to steal, kill and destroy the creation God loves. So his temptation to Adam and Eve was to disobey God. Disobedience caused his fall, and when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden fruit it was their downfall, and paradise was lost.
