Jackets pick up all-WAC honors
Three Kingfisher High School players were named all-conference and two more earned honorable mention last week as the Western Athletic Conference revealed its boys basketball selections.
Voted by coaches to the first team was Hayes White.
Cash Laird was named to the second team and Michael Easley the third team.
Jackson Willbanks and Croston Martin earned honorable mention.
All five Jackets are seniors.
White averaged 14.1 points and 3.4 rebounds a game for the Jackets, who finished the season 21-9 and advanced to the Class 4A area consolation championship.
White also led the team with 2.7 assists and 2.1 steals a game.
Laird, like White, was a two-year starter for KHS.
Laird scored 14.2 points a contest while pulling down a team-high 4.2 rebounds a game. He averaged 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals a contest. He shot 38.6 percent from 3-point range and 48.9 percent overall.
A newcomer this year, Easley led the Jackets with 14.4 points a game and averaged 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
He led the team with a 55.7 shooting percentage.
Willbanks scored 4.9 points and pulled down 3.0 rebounds a game while Martin averaged 4.8 points and 1.6 assists.
Joining White on the first team were Jackson Smith of Weatherford, Breck Brady of Bethany, Kadon Gaines of Woodward and Emory Smalley of Blanchard, who was voted the MVP.
