Carolyn Baker Wright passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by her daughters.

Carolyn was born Jan. 4, 1939, in Kingfisher to John and Winifred Baker.

The Baker family moved to Stillwater during Carolyn’s high school years.

Carolyn met and married Jim Wright in Stillwater and aspired to be a kindergarten teacher.

She ended up having a kindergarten class of her own of sorts after she and Jim moved to Dallas, Texas, where she had her first two daughters, Mary Jane and Diana. With another move to Florida, she had two more daughters, Phyllis and Melinda.

Another work relocation of Jim’s brought the family to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1972 where the Wright family took roots.

Carolyn had a lovely singing voice, participating in honor choir during her school years, singing at weddings and was one of four backup singers on a John Stone record released by Ebb Records.

Carolyn continued to remain in close contact with friends from Kingfisher and Stillwater while raising her family in Arizona.

While in Dallas, Carolyn worked at Texas Instruments and was the church secretary in Arizona.

Carolyn enjoyed playing piano and remained active in singing at church as well as being an active participant in her daughters’ school and extracurricular activities and later her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.

She was the most loving woman whose greatest joy was spending time with family. She had a deep faith in God’s love and goodness and lived it every day throughout her life.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father John, mother Winifred, brother John, sister Jane and daughter Diana.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters Mary Jane (spouse Mike), Phyllis, Melinda (spouse Jim), eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She will be deeply missed, however her joyous spirit will never be forgotten and lives on through the many wonderful life lessons and memories with her family.

A family graveside service will take place Saturday, May 25.
