Carter Anne Denton, 65, went to Heaven on Feb. 7, 2021.

Born Aug. 2, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Arlen and Karen Haakinson, she grew up in Wichita, Kan., and attended Chapparal High School.

Carter married the love of her life, David Wayne Denton, on Sept. 16, 1973, in Anthony, Kan.

For 28 years, they made their home in Kingfisher, where they raised their two daughters, Kimberly and Kacey, and ran several local businesses.

Carter was an active member of the Kingfisher community for years.

Diagnosed as a child with juvenile diabetes, she received the life-saving gift of a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2005.

The many extra years this gift afforded her were some of the most rewarding of her life.

Carter and David have lived in Oklahoma City since 2007, close to their daughters and their precious granddaughter and “Lovebug” Margaret Anne Armour, who knows her as “Cookie.”

Carter was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband David; daughter Kimberly Denton and fiancé Michael Gillespie of Yukon; daughter Kacey Armour and husband Trip, granddaughter Margaret Anne and a baby boy due July 2021, all of Oklahoma City; her sisters Tracy (Danny) Aleshire, Brooke Haakinson and Paige Kraus; along with many loving family and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Buchanan Funeral Service in Oklahoma City.

Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LifeShare of Oklahoma or Life.Church Children’s Ministries.
