    David Lee Towards

David Lee Sowards, 74, of Moore and formerly of Kingfisher, Cashion and Tulsa, died Friday, March 20, 2020, in Oklahoma City.

David was born Aug. 2, 1945, in El Reno to Cleo L. and Nelva Sires Sowards.

David attended school in Kingfisher and Cashion and graduated from the latter. He later earned a bachelor’s degree from Central State College.

He married Janet Harman on Dec. 20, 1965, at Cashion Christian Church.

David served as a deacon, elder and board chairman at Cashion Christian Church.

He served as president of the Cashion Lions Club and Cashion All-Sports and was a member of the Oklahoma Claimsmen Association.

David was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Jess and Jessie Sowards and John and Hattie Sires; in-laws Bennie and Jenseni Harman; and brother-in-law Doyle Garrett.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Staci Pruett and husband John of Oklahoma City; son Jason Sowards and wife Amy of Tulsa; four grandchildren; brother Stephen Sowards and wife Leslie of Monterey, Calif.; brother-in-law Warren Lee Harman and wife Linda of Cashion and sister-in-law Sharon Garrett of Guthrie; three nephews, one niece and numerous cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of John M. Ireland and Son Funeral Home of Moore.
