Florence (Flo) Helen Howenstine Hellwege was born April 4, 1933, to Cy Howenstine Jr. and Cora Helen McDonald Howenstine in Arapaho, Okla.

She passed away peacefully Dec. 10, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

After Flo’s father passed away, her mother married John Gossman and they moved to his farm east of Arapaho. She graduated from Arapaho High School in 1951.

Flo then attended Oklahoma A&M College where she met the love of her life Ernest Hellwege. They were married on March 9, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, Okla.

Flo and Ernest called home the family farm east of Kingfisher where they raised their three children.

Flo was active in many community organizations even up until her passing including Happy Homemakers, Kingfisher County Republican Woman, Altrua, and the Federated Church.

Flo filled any of her free time with baking, canning, crocheting and cooking for her family and numerous farmhands over the years.

Flo is survived by; son, Ernest Hellwege Jr. and wife Karen; son, Donald John Hellwege and wife Brenda; foster son, Scott Seretean and wife Coleen; grandchildren, Elliott Hellwege and wife Hillary; Kamara Buck and husband Dalton, Allison Hellwege, and Aubrey Hellwege; great-grandson, Cael Hellwege; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cy Howenstine Jr.; stepfather, John Gossman; mother Cora Gossman; daughter Paula Sue Hellwege; loving husband of almost 60 years, Ernest Hellwege; and brother, Witcher Cy Howenstine.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at 2 p.m., at the Federated Church, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service, with Rev. Daryl Reininger offi ciating.
