?? Fred William Uhlenhake was born July 27, 1928, to Frank and Augusta Uhlenhake (Unverzagt) and passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He grew up in Kingfisher and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. He then transferred to Kingfisher Public Schools and graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1946.

Fred married Denelda Gill on Jan. 22, 1948, in Oklahoma City. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before her death in 2012.

Fred was proud of his military service and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 179th Infantry, 45th Division. He looked forward to his company’s reunions and was a member of the American Legion, Post 0005.

After returning home from Korea, Fred and Denelda moved to Loyal to farm and raise their son Greg. Fred also worked a full-time job at Gulfstream airplane plant in Bethany as a purchasing agent, retiring after 33 years.

Upon retirement he continued farming with son, grandson and his two great-grandsons. They were his pride and joy.

Fred attended all of their activities showing up with his walker or red scooter. Nothing was going to keep him away from seeing Brooks and Brenden play basketball, baseball or show cattle.

Fred loved going places, seeing people, never met a stranger and truly enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is survived by his son Greg Uhlenhake and wife Denice; grandson Brad Uhlenhake and wife Billie; great-grandsons Brooks and Brenden Uhlenhake, all of Loyal.

He is also survived by two sisters; Agnes Tatum of Douglass, Kan., and Caroline Johnston of Kingfisher, and a sister-in-law Elva Gill of Loyal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Denelda, brother and sister-in-law Bud and Mary Uhlenhake, sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Bob Glazier, brothers-in-law Melvin Ross, George Johnston and Donald Gill and a niece and nephew.

The funeral was held at the United Methodist Church in Loyal on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Burial followed at Forest Home Cemetery in Loyal.

The family has asked memorial donations be made to the Loyal Lions Club or the Loyal Fire Department.
