Lenard Charles Briscoe was born April 26, 1934, in Marlow to Coats Randolph Briscoe and Francis Malissa (Johnson) Briscoe.

He died March 14, 2021,

He attended and graduated Marlow High School in 1952, then married his high school sweetheart, Melba Cowan.

Following their marriage, Lenard and Melba moved to multiple locations across the southwest United States and eventually settled in Kingfisher in 1967.

Lenard and Melba were active in the Kingfisher community, including supporting the First Baptist Church, local high school sports and establishing in Kingfisher the Briscoe Sports Fields and Skate Park.

As a result of his community involvement, he was awarded Kingfisher Citizen of the Year.

Lenard was an active entrepreneur, establishing multiple businesses, primarily in oil and gas and banking, including Briscoe Drilling, Briscoe Oil and LCB Resources.

He was looked to by many community members as a mentor, supporter and investor in new and ongoing business.

He was active in state and local politics and served on the Oklahoma Transportation Commission.

He had multiple hobbies including hunting, fishing and car collecting.

Lenard was preceded in death by his loving wife Melba.

He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Vicki Wint, Toni and Rick Nobles, Charlie Briscoe, and J.R. “Randy” and Janet Briscoe; his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; his brother Randy; and his sisters Dana and Linda.

He will be missed by the surviving family and the local community.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Sanders Funeral Service.

The family will hold a private service.
