Margaret Hogan was born Oct. 15, 1927, on a farm near Lookeba to Joe and Gladys Baker. She was the sixth of seven children.

She died March 8, 2021, at the age of 93.

Her education began at a one-room country school and continued through the eighth grade.

She then attended Lookeba High School and played basketball through her senior year.

After graduation, she enrolled at Southwestern Teachers College in Weatherford.

While attending college, she met and married Herald (Heap) Hogan.

They later moved to Sickles and taught school there from 1952 to 1957.

They moved to Omega where he was superintendent for four years.

In 1961, they moved the family to Kingfisher and have lived there ever since.

Margaret taught fifth grade in Kingfisher until retiring in 1984.

Her favorite pastimes were playing bridge, working puzzles and reading.

Margaret was a longtime member of Kingfisher First United Methodist Church and the Bridge Club as well as a hospital volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years in 2012.

She is survived by her three children, Terral and wife Wendy of Guthrie, Vicky Gelner of the home and Mike Hogan of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great -great-granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held at Kingfisher Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11, with Rev. Dr. Jennifer Long officiating and under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
