Mary “Dawn” Pappe, Kingfisher, is now absent from her body and present with the Lord.

Born Oct. 13, 1926, she passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019. She was 92 years old.

Dawn loved and faithfully served her family, church and community. She had a way of brightening any room she entered. Her friendly demeanor and infectious laugh put everyone around her in a good mood.

She had many hobbies over the years, including crafts such as: crocheting, knitting, tatting, sewing, painting, cake decorating and porcelain doll making.

Golf, water aerobics, duplicate bridge and playing card games at the Senior Citizens Center were activities she enjoyed.

Dawn also regularly volunteered at the voting booth as well as helping the Kingfisher Christmas lights project.

She was very involved in her church and loved by everyone. Her amazing coconut cream pies that she brought to all the potluck dinners were always a highlight.

She  hosted all our family Christmas gatherings and, up until a few years ago, she prepared all the food. We especially loved her homemade rolls and dressing.

Dawn was preceded in death by her husband George Pappe, son Charles Pappe, grand-daughters Terra and Trisha Thomas, sister JoAnn Green, and brother Bill Maynord.

She leaves behind her children Donna Thomas, John Pappe, Anita Hoskin and Mike Hoskin, who she viewed as her own son; also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

We all miss her dearly, but, her presence lives on in our fond memories of her life and her example.

Services were Friday, May 17, at Kingfisher Church of Christ. Burial followed at Kingfisher Cemetery.
