    VETERAN — Robert ‘Bob’ Westfahl

Robert Dale “Bob” Westfahl was born June 22, 1926, in Perry to August Franklin and Florence Gertrude (Mildfelt) Westfahl.

He passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at St. Katharine’s Drexel Retirement Center in El Reno at the age of 94.

His family moved to Okeene where he attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School.

Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corp on Oct. 17, 1946, and served as a gunner on a B-29 before being discharged in October 1946.

Bob returned to Okeene where he met Margaret Ann Wendt. They married Sept. 5, 1951, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher.

Bob was a dairyman and worked the family farm northwest of Kingfisher until 1961.

Bob began barber college and earned his license.

He then built a home in Kingfisher and began working at Barney’s Barber Shop.

Several years later, he opened his own business, Bob’s Barber Shop, which he ran for 33 years until he retired at age 70.

Bob was an avid golfer and played every weekend with his buddies. He was very good, even making the coveted hole-in-one.

He golfed until the age of 85.

He and Margaret had three children, Nicholas Dale Westfahl and wife Linda, Gail Ann Hill and husband Bob, and Joann Louise Bates, all of Kingfisher; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Bob and Margaret moved to St. Katharine’s Drexel Retirement Center on April 25, 2016.

Margaret passed away on May 27, 2017. Bob continued to reside at St. Katharine’s until his death.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Donald Leroy Westfahl Sr., formerly of Bakersfield, Calif., and John Westfahl, formerly of Eureka, Calif.; one grandson, Danial Dee Wilson; and one infant daughter, Barbara Lynn Westfahl.

Rosary is at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 5, and funeral at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6. Both services are at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
