AOC continues to ‘educate’ us
AOC, bless her heart, is a piece of work, if you don’t mind a figure of speech.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the former New York City barmaid who won election to the U.S. House of Representatives, caused an uproar on the Internet recently when she, in a pedantic voice, carefully explained in a public setting that no one can actually “pull him-herself up by the bootstraps.”
“It’s physically impossible,” she intoned.
Gee, really?
Maybe nobody in the history of the English-speaking world ever realized that was a figure of speech intended to explain self-reliance.
Perhaps Miss AOC was attempting to compete with Barack Obama’s equally ridiculous comment, referring to Americans’ private businesses: “you didn’t build that.”
Both AOC and BHO have a deep disdain for private enterprise and go to great lengths to disparage the system that made the United States the greatest nation in history.
Ocasio-Cortez, who also seems to be in a contest with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for “chamber cutie,” drew some 5,000 comments – many derisive – on her remark.
Stating the Obvious
Originally the term referred to attempting to do something absurd.
Stating the obvious is just one of Ocasio-Cortez’s obscure talents.
While she attempts to take on the mantle of an educator, she is actually a millennial doofus in a serious position.
The House of Representatives should be peopled by individuals who have a glimmer of common sense.
Last week, she introduced a bill banning fracking nationwide, a companion to socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders’ legislation seeking to ban all fracking by 2025.
This comes less than a year after Ocasio Cortez introduced the so-called Green New Deal, a thinly disguised plan to kill free enterprise and thus the entire U.S. economy. It called for a 10-year “national mobilization” toward addressing climate change.
The Green New Deal would reportedly phase out fossil fuels within 10 years.
She also Predicts Quick End to Earth
You may recall that Ocasio-Cortez has predicted the end of the earth in 12 years if we don’t quit using fossil fuels.
The conservative American Action Forum did a study that indicated that plan would force Americans to pony up $93 trillion to pay for it.
Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren signed on as a Senate co-sponsor of that measure before it met its timely death in the Senate.
It should be remembered that Sanders and Warren are both candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination this year.
Alas.
Maybe that’s why Bill Clinton counselor Van Jones has expressed such deep concern about Democrat chances in the 2020 presidential election.
Of greater concern to many Americans is that individuals like this are in positions of leadership.
States like California, New York – and now Virginia – show what happens when the insane run the asylum.
Virginia Takeover Is Fair Warning
Virginia, where the state government was taken over by a left-wing majority in the off-year elections, has initiated a mess of anti-gun legislation and is now working to sign up on the plan to hijack the Electoral College – the National Popular Vote Compact.
The intent of this plan, of course, is to allow a few high-population states (or even cities) to elect the president by the popular vote and do away with the safeguards for rural states. It’s a plan to legalize mob rule.
Back to AOC. We wonder how she might analyze “It’s raining cats and dogs” or a “beat around the bush” or other idioms that a reasonable person would not pontificate on.
Hopefully, she and other members of the House’s “Squad” won’t win re-election this year and we won’t have to think about their influence on public life further. They represent densely populated districts in New York, Michigan and Minnesota. Will such electorates send them back to Washington?
Oh, probably.
