Brian Walter, other volunteers set summit in Washington, D.C.

By

Dear Supporters,

Our next Unity Leadership Summit is scheduled for May 12th and 13th in Washington D.C. As I have mentioned before, a dedicated group of volunteers is helping to best prepare me and our facilitator out of Dallas, Jason Hammons.

Jason is dedicating much time and providing much value. The other volunteers —Mark Truitt, Clay Thompson, and Robert Sloan—are also providing great guidance. My longtime friend and our only part-time staff member, John Gooden, is playing a very valuable role as well.

Since we are calling the meeting, we are setting the meeting agenda.

One of the advantages to that lies in guiding and directing the conversation.

God has given me a very clear vision of what needs to happen, or at least He’s given me a very clear feeling for what needs to happen. Much of my work is trying to persuade the larger group concerning what I believe, so I want to share with you what I believe so that you can challenge me if you think I’m wrong on any of these assertions: I believe the task of amending the U.S. Constitution is an incredibly difficult task. As a result, our chances of failure far out way our chances of success. I believe firmly we need to realize this and adjust our actions and words accordingly.

• I believe amending the U.S. Constitution is our only hope to avoid eventual financial collapse.

• Ibelieveweshouldtry to make the task as simple as possible.

• I believe that, unlike other groups, we should be clear about exactly what amendment we propose.

• I believe history tells us that other successful attempts to amending the U.S. Constitution have been morally based and have been championed from a Christian perspective, often even from church pulpits.

• Ibelievethetaskistoo much for mere humans. We must call upon God’s power.

Please find attached the script for remarks I plan to deliver at the Summit to try to make these points to the larger group.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

P.S. We are less than a week away from the May 1 deadline when we expect Oklahoma Attorney General Drummond to give us his answer. It’s a big deal. Please keep him and his decision in your prayers.
