Deep State continues its war on common sense

The Leftists in the Washington, D.C. Deep State, which seems to include most of the older hands, have indicated they plan to attempt to counteract President Trump’s efforts to return reason and common sense to the national government.

The plan apparently includes such strategies as slow walking legislation and implementing executive orders.

The Washington opponents are working with leaders in blue states, explaining how to “resist” the Trump agenda.

“Indivisible,” an organization bent on continuing the efforts of Leftists in Washington to increase control over individuals despite an overwhelming defeat at the hands of voters in the November elections, has suggested ways to thwart the Trump presidency.

The organization, whatever its origin (it smacks of George Soros interference) has provided a list of suggestions states can use to undermine the president’s efforts. Note: They aren’t likely to work in Oklahoma where every county voted for Trump for president but “progressives” – what a misnomer – in blue states are likely to take them to heart.

You can bet pompade-slathered California Gov. Gavin Newsom will be slavering over the plan.

One section of the release comments: “What Tools Can States Use to Resist Trump?” and lists these: “

• State legislation. State legislatures can pass laws that advance progressive ideals or restore protections undone by Trump. In order to become law, legislation must be introduced, debated, and voted on by elected state representatives and signed by the governor. For example, after the Trump administration opened our coasts to offshore drilling and repealed net neutrality, states have been considering legislation that would ban drilling off of their coasts and restore the free and open internet.

• Gubernatorial executive orders. Much like presidential executive orders, governors are often able to take some actions unilaterally via executive order. Executive orders do not require legislative approval, though they are subject to legislative review in some states. For example, after the FCC repealed net neutrality, governors from multiple states signed executive orders that would prevent their state government from doing business with any internet service provider that was not net-neutral.

• Attorney general lawsuits. States’ attorneys general have been racking up lawsuits against the Trump administration left and right in an attempt to protect their residents from the harmful policies being implemented in Washington. In 2017 alone, California sued the Trump administration 24 times.

• Ballot initiatives. Ballot initiatives allow voters to bypass the legislature and vote on legislation or constitutional amendments directly at the ballot box. By gathering a certain number of petition signatures (the number varies by state), constituents can either propose brand new legislation or hold a referendum (citizen vote) on recently passed legislation. In both cases, the decision is placed before the voters. Ballot initiatives are a tool available in 24 states.”

Blue states, already the worst-governed in the U.S. – check which are the deepest in debt and most prone to seek federal government handouts (our tax dollars) – undoubtedly will jump at the chance to continue the U.S. race to dictatorship (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington).

Over and over the article strikes at efforts to prevent voter fraud. The Left depends on election fraud to gain and keep power. The Left hypocritically refers to its type of government as “democracy.”

In the not-too-distant past, most Oklahomans had to register “Democrat” in order to vote in local elections. A majority in Oklahoma have discovered that the Democrat Party has “left” them.

Democrat leaders are frantic and flailing about seeking some way to regain total control, like they had for several decades, resulting in the current dystopia.

The current crisis in California is a an example of leftwing government.

While Newsom attempts to blame the devastating fires in southern California on – you guessed it – Climate Change, the real problem is failure by Newsom and his left-wing dominated legislature to take reasonable steps needed to prevent conditions leading to such fires.

President Trump was visiting California last week to assess the situation.

He and current leaders in Congress have suggested that help will be on the way but with strings attached, undoubtedly requiring state funds to help solve the problems.

PBS, which should be cut off federal tax dollars, ran a story last week headlined “California Republicans push back after Speaker Johnson’s threat to saddle wildfire aid with “conditions.”

You can count on PBS to follow the left’s line on most matters.

As usual, the story featured the most pathetic situation – the normal citizens who lost their homes to the fires and the deaths – to call for federal funding to solve the problems.

PBS used this quote in the story, turning it into an editorial: “In an interview aired Wednesday night, Trump said he may withhold aid to California until the state adjusts how it manages its scarce water resources. He falsely claimed that California’s fish conservation efforts in the northern part of the state are responsible for fire hydrants running dry in urban areas.

Certainly, it’s a sad situation and the people, who became victims of irresponsible state government need help.

Trump was quoted this way: “I don’t think we should give California anything until they let the water run down,” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. PBS’s story continued this way: “Local officials have said the conservation efforts for the delta smelt had nothing to do with the hydrants running dry as firefighters tried to contain blazes around Los Angeles. They said intense demand on a municipal system not designed to battle such blazes was to blame.

“The wind-driven firestorms wiped out whole neighborhoods of Los Angeles County, left thousands homeless and killed more than two dozen people.

“Trump said earlier this week that discussions are under way in the White House to bring more water to perennially parched Los Angeles, alluding to rainfall runoff lost to the Pacific and the state’s vast water storage and delivery system.

“Los Angeles has massive amounts of water available to it. All they have to do is turn the valve,” the president said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson was quoted this way: “House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said he “won’t commit” to providing aid without conditions to the flame-engulfed region of Los Angeles County.

“Johnson and other Republicans have been considering leveraging California’s need for aid and relief to advance political agendas as the fires rage on. On Sunday’s episode of “Meet the Press,” host Kristen Welker asked Johnson if he could commit to not binding California disaster relief to conditions, such as increasing the debt limit.

“No, I won’t commit that because we have a serious problem in California,” Johnson said. “Listen, there are natural disasters. I’m from Louisiana, we’re prone to that. We understand how these things work. But then there’s also human error, and when the state and local officials make foolish policy decisions that make the disaster exponentially worse, we need to factor that in, and I think that’s a common sense notion.”

••• You can bet the major media will harangue the new administration endlessly on the situation, as well as any new disaster, seeking to make Trump and the Republican majority the “bad” guys.

It will be a relentless effort the next four years.

The compliant Leftist media attempted to use similar tactics against Trump in the 2024 presidential election, unsuccessfully.

A majority of Americans figured out the deceitfulness of the national media and voted for Trump, anyway.

May cooler heads prevail during the next four years, at least.
