This is how we plan to vote Nov. 3
Here are our personal picks in the Nov. 3 general election – in case you’re interested.
We have been clear all along that we will vote to re-elect President Trump. In our opinion he has earned another term, having demonstrated even better leadership and judgment than we expected four years ago.
We pray it will be by a landslide in order to muzzle the left – at least for a few years – and prevent chaos expected when it comes time to begin a new term.
It is obvious that the left is planning to cheat, if necessary, to get rid of Trump – the guy who the left thought was supposed to lose to Hillary Clinton, thereby greasing the slide into complete one world oblivion.
President Trump has fought through four year’s of ceaseless attacks by insider left-wing politicians (the swamp) and a compliant big media while simultaneously building the nation’s economy, military and sense of pride in America.
Older citizens told us in years past that there was a movement in the late ‘20s and ‘30s to replace the constitutional government that has produced unmatched blessings for American citizens with a socialist government.
A hundred years later it is being tried again.
Americans were wise enough in the early 20th century to defeat the overthrow of their free nation. For the sake of all Americans, we hope the same thing happens again. We also will vote for Sen. Jim Inhofe and 3rd
We also will vote for Sen. Jim Inhofe and 3rd District Congressman Frank Lucas.
It is vital that Republicans control Congress, whether or not President Trump wins re-election.
The leftists are a clever bunch, even if wrong-headed. You can bet they have a plan up their sleeve to continue the overthrow they came close to achieving with Obama followed by Clinton.
We will vote to retain all the state judges and justices up for election this year.
We see no reason not to allow them to continue in office as they seem inclined to rule whether laws are constitutional (their job), rather than slipping their own policies in.
We will vote “yes” on both state questions.
There is concern about S.Q. 805 allowing some bad people to go free.
We are reminded of the legal scholar William Blackstone’s observation, “It is better that 10 guilty persons escape than one innocent suffer.”
Our prison system is overloaded, some of the inmates serving sentences for rather innocuous crimes.
We favor approval of S.Q. 814 because the tobacco tax settlement money has been wasted in too many cases. It would be better in our opinion, given the large cost increase to the state expected with Medicaid expansion, if the money can be spent on that effort.
We will vote to extend the county sales tax, which has been used wisely in extending important services to the communities. Rural fire departments have been able to upgrade because of the tax. All the departments getting the tax are worthwhile and would be hurt without it.
We can’t vote on the city tax issue since we lived outside city limits but we hope it passes. The proposed tax will not cause an increase in the city’s current total sales tax rate of 3.335%. The proposed one-third of 1% tax will replace the expiring tax that was approved to make repairs to the Vernie Snow Aquatic Center.
The first project city fathers plan to complete with the funds is a new fire station, replacing the current station built in 1976.
We would like to see some of the money used to resurface city streets that need maintenance and repair.
