Jon’s Ramblin’s Alcoholism

By

Several years ago, I challenged Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in this column to wage a campaign against showing people using alcoholic beverages in TV programs and advertising alcoholic beverages in public – TV, radio, magazines, etc. Nothing came of this challenge; about what I expected.

Now to the present. When Governor Stitt was preparing to sign the constitutional carry law (allowing non-felons to carry a firearm without a permit), a bunch of mothers demonstrated outside the governor’s office (against the signing of the bill).

Oh my, we’re going to have gunfights in the streets, all our children will be killed.

There has been one child killed by a drunken driver in Oklahoma this month (The Konawa school bus that was hit by a drunken driver.) It’s a miracle more kids weren’t killed or injured.

How many kids were killed by guns in Oklahoma this year? None that I know of.

The killings that have happened were drug related or crime or gang related in some way.

The people who were behind the shootings were felons who had guns illegally.

I rest my case.

God bless America,
